Madhavi is noted for her excellent presentation and is a very popular exponent of Odissi. A disciple of late guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Madhavi has performed all over the world. Her brother Madhup Mudgal is a very famous Hindustani vocalist and heads Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya in New Delhi. Madhavi is married to designer Vinay Jain.
Madhavi though started her dancing career as a Kathak dancer, took Odissi as her chosen medium of expression though people still talk about her wonderful Kathak duets she did with maestro late Durga Lal.
